WE ARE FRIENDS MAUI
The Henry Kapono Foundation(HKF) remains steadfast in its dedication to our fellow musical brothers and sisters affected by the Maui Wildfires. With the vision to uplift, heal, and rebuild the Maui music community the HKF aims to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, fostering a vibrant community where all can thrive.
We Are Friends Maui (WAFM) supports meaningful work, educational opportunities, and career advancement for Maui’s legendary, established, and up & coming entertainers through grants, scholarships, sponsorships, & live events with organizations looking for talent.
HKF, Raised over $300,000 in support of the Maui Community
Within days of August 8, 2023, and in an effort to provide immediate relief and long term support for community outreach, the HKF developed and launched the HKF We Are Friends Maui Program. The HKF diverted all community donations August 8 through October 1 to the WAFM fund and swiftly partnered with like minded organizations to create channels and performance opportunities to solicit donations for the Maui Community.
Fundraising efforts resulted in donations through campaigns, digital marketing, targeted campaigns, community support & live events, including partnerships with:

Haku Collective offered FREE weekend workshops to the youth in Maui on April 12 & 13, that taught aspiring artists how to create quality music through an artistic approach, learning critical industry skills that empower self-awareness, healthy expression, executive thinking and resilience.

The Maui Strong Fund was a beneficiary of a portion of the We Are Friends Maui Benefit Concert at the MACC on 9.23.23. Maui Strong is providing financial resources to support the immediate and long-term recovery needs for the people and places affected by the devastating Maui wildfires. Learn More Here
EIF’S PEOPLE’S FUND OF MAUI: Beneficiary of the We Are Friends Maui Benefit Concert at the MACC
The People’s Fund of Maui(PFM) was a beneficiary of a portion of the We Are Friends Maui Benefit Concert at the MACC 9.23.23. The PFM provided direct financial assistance to the people of Lahaina and Kula who experienced devastating losses from the Maui wildfires. Learn More Here
WE ARE FRIENDS MAUI - EMERGENCY BASIC ESSENTIAL RELIEF
The "We Are Friends Maui" Program started as an emergency relief initiative for basic essentials, immediately offering $500 Foodland grocery cards to professional entertainment families who were directly impacted by the Maui Wildfires on August 8, 2023 through January 2024. HKF awarded $80,000 in grocery cards to 160 families during this difficult time.
