Olivia Zheng HKF Event Manager and Sound Technician

Originally from Canton, China (southern region), Olivia moved to Hawaiʻi in 2010 during high school to join her father’s family, who was already living in the islands. They believed Hawaiʻi offered a chance to build a better future, and made the move together.

After studying Audio Engineering at Honolulu Community College, Olivia began working with a local sound company and freelancing as a live audio mixer. These work experiences allowed her to continue expanding her skills in audio mixing and event production, while deepening her connection to Hawaiʻi’s music scene.

A turning point in Olivia’s career came while working a private gig for Henry Kapono, where she connected with Lezlee Kaʻaihue, Executive Director of the Henry Kapono Foundation and Vice President of Kapono Inc. Lezlee took Olivia under her wing, teaching her business basics, and as a recipient of HKF programs herself, Olivia experienced firsthand the powerful impact the Foundation has on Hawai‘i’s music community. She was deeply inspired by the Kapono Inc. and HKF team’s genuine passion for supporting local musicians in such a thoughtful and effective way.

Today, Olivia is highly sought after for her sound and technical expertise, known for making artists sound their absolute best. She is honored to give back by supporting the very community that welcomed her so warmly when entering the industry, finding deeper meaning in every project she takes on.
