Don Ho
Bio
Don Ho was Hawai`i’s Ambassador of Aloha to the world. A favorite son of Hawai`i, he brought people together with his charismatic personality, Hawaiian values, and music. Don Ho is Hawai`i’s icon and a personification of the Aloha Spirit. He was big time, but to Don, it “ain’t no big thing.”
His legacy of performing spanned over five decades (1960-2007) of entertaining audiences, appearing on every major talk show, being a Las Vegas headliner, starring in his own ABC-TV show and specials, to headlining Waikiki’s most popular and longest running show, providing a showcase for young, local talent, and inspiring them to reach for greatness.
With over 15 best-selling recordings and featuring songs by local composers, there was so much more to Don Ho than “Tiny Bubbles” and “Pearly Shells.” Don’s music was the cornerstone on which he built his extraordinary entertainment career. It is the language through which he spoke from his heart to the world. Whether a lifelong friend, an aspiring performer looking for a break, a grandmother from Peoria, or a member of the military, you mattered to Don Ho. In a one-on-one encounter or appearance before hundreds on his stage, he made you feel special in his genuine “local boy” style.
